The largest truck in the world

Meet the biggest truck in the world, this monster with 3,430 horsepower and torque of 18,626 Nm at 1.500 RPM, with two MTU DD 16V4000, with individual power of 1,715 horsepower and a load capacity of 450 tons. Incredible numbers of this mines mastodon transports.

It is the BelAZ 7571, manufactured by Belarus, BelAZ, the biggest manufacturer of dump trucks in the field of mining and transport equipment. The models are equipped with two axles, has dual wheels that total eight tires, in measures 59/80 R63, with 4x4 traction with its steerable tires.

These are the most big tires in the world that are produced by Michelin, it has 4 meters tall and 1,50 meters wide, weighing a bit more than 5 tons each tire.

Without load, this monster weighs incledible 360 tons, being able to carry 450 tons on its bucket which totals 810 tons. To handle all this weight, the two engines with a displacement of 65 liters and 16 cylinders in V. The power of the engines is directed to a diesel-electric transmission developed by Siemens, the MMT500, which increases the power of the truck's total engines to an incredible 4,600 horses.

Despite all this strength, the top speed of this titan is only 64 km/h. It measures about 20.6 meters in length, with 8 meters of wheelbase, is 9.87 meters in width, and 8.16 meters in height.

According to BelAZ, fuel consumption is approximately 750 liters per hour, however, as the heavy vehicle has four-wheel drive, it can save around 10% in fuel consumption. In addition, the 4×4 traction guarantees a more balanced wear of the truck's components, and, as all its wheels steers, the turning radius is approximately 19.8 meters.

It is all equipped with disc brakes on all wheels, and has an electric retarder that is activated by electric traction motors in its wheels, which they use to pressurize for cooling.

To lift the bucket, two hydraulic pistons are used, but the system is the same that activates the brakes and the steering system.

The truck operates in mines all over the planet, and with temperatures that can vary between -58°F to 122°F. For colder places, such as Siberia, where it was one of the first 7571 produced, the model has units that keep the engine warm, to prevent it from freezing, even if the truck is off for several hours.

For security reasons, the model has an integrated fire-fighting system, which can be activated remotely. Its tires also have technology, and report their current conditions to the mining company's control tower, especially in terms of tire pressure.

Another technological security differential is an alarm, installed inside the cabin, for proximity to high voltage lines.

The driver has a small but comfortable cabin, installed six meters above the ground. To gain access, he can use two ladders, one diagonal and one vertical, installed in the forward cabin.

The truck is so gigantic that it would be impossible for the truck to travel on most conventional roads. Therefore, it is only sold disassembled, and the completion of its assembly is carried out within the mine facilities where the truck will be used.

The price of this beast is close to US$ 7.5 million.
